“Yesterday, December seventh, 1941, a date which will live in infamy, the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. We will gain the inevitable triumph, so help us God.”

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Japanese forces had just bombed Pearl Harbor, sinking several American ships and killing more than two thousand servicemen. America had found itself trust into the middle of World War II, and President Franklin Roosevelt asked Congress for a formal declaration of war against Japan with the above speech. This speech is without question one of the most well known war-related speeches of all time.
