The Top Guns for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the greatest first person shooters of all time, and most hardcore gamers fondly remember the online multiplayer. The beloved competitive multiplayer got a great upgrade when Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered came out, prompting us to load up our mags and enter the battle once again.

There are so many awesome weapons in Modern Warfare‘s multiplayer, it’s hard to list them all. That said, we’ve done our best to create a list of the best guns in Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare. If you feel like your favorite gun has been left out, we encourage you to add it to the list!

Whether it’s a hard-hitting shotgun or a devilishly fast SMG, there’s no shortage ofawesome guns in COD 4. While we were racking up multi-kills on Shipment, these were our go-to guns for killing sprees.

#1 M16A4 (Assault Rifle)

The M16 provides an excellent three-round burst shot, capable of eliminating most players if all three shots land. This exceptionally powerful rifle is available right from the beginning, making it a great choice for early games.

As an additional way to really dig into your opponents' skin, you can equip the grenade launcher as an attachment for quick kills. Commonly referred to as the “noob tube”, the launcher attachment will absolutely decimate any enemy who are unlucky enough to cross into its path.

#2 MP5 (SMG)

When it comes to engaging in close quarters, the MP5 is a great pick. As an SMG, it provides great power without sacrificing mobility! You'll be able to quickly rack up double kills galore as long as you check your corners.

The MP5 is an excellent weapon for when you're first starting out, as it's unlocked right from the get-go. If you keep getting killed by camping shotgunners, try delivering an order of lead from your MP5! This is also an excellent weapon for those who like to get up close and personal, weaving in and out of buildings and alleys.

#3 W1200 (Shotgun)

The W1200 is a pump action shotgun that with devastating damage, and a great choice for maps with tight corridors. You can often kill an enemy with a single shot, making this one of the most lethal weapons for accurate players.

It's great fun to turn a corner and flatten a foe with one pull of the trigger, and equipping the steady aim perk makes that a breeze. This is a gun for people who like to get up close and personal. If you're going to run with any shotgun, make it this one.

#4 M4 Carbine (Assault Rifle)

This fully automatic rifle is extremely versatile, and excellent for most mid-sized or smaller maps. Once you pop a red dot sight on this thing, you'll be able to pull of consistent kills from significant distance. The M4 Carbine is also decent in close quarters situations when an SMG is unavailable.

Like other fully automatic assault rifles, the M4 Carbine is great when fired in bursts, and capable of penetrating through walls, doors, and other obstacles. If you want to lay down some significant damage without sacrificing reload speed or movement, this is an excellent gun to choose.

#5 M60E4 (LMG)

Light machine guns are often a bit too large and take too long to reload, but the M60E4 balances that out with excellent damage and range. With the default iron sights, this gun isn't the best, but equipping it with a red dot sight is the key to racking up kills.

Without the visual obstruction of the iron sights, you'll be able to pick off enemies at a moderate range with ease. It does take some time to reload, but the large ammo capacity is well worth it.

#6 M21 (Sniper Rifle)

There are a handful of sniper rifles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but the M21 squeaks by most of the competition with its semi-automatic fire rate and 10-round clip. When you're staring down the sights of an M21 and unleashing numerous shots, the recoil can get a bit hectic. But for those who can hold tight under pressure, the M21 presents massive killing power.

Unlike the more powerful sniper rifles (like the Barrett .50CAL), the M21 often takes two shots to bring down a target. Headshots are usually a one-hit kill, but you should get used to double-tapping when the enemy is in your sights. The M21 is also a decent sniper for intermediate players, as missing one shot won't ruin your entire attack.

#7 P90 (SMG)

The P90 is unrivaled in terms of mobility and fire rate, spraying loads of lead into the nearest enemy with exceptional speed. This is by far one of the best weapons for indoor fights, providing a hefty amount of firepower without sacrificing character movement.

The only downside to the P90 is how quickly it runs out of ammo, so be sure to shoot in bursts and concentrate your fire. Regardless, if any member of the opposing team finds themselves in front of the P90, you can bet they'll be dead before they know it.
